The Electric Homes Program has been extended until
30 November!

After a successful 2023 program which helped over 300 households move away from gas, we are excited to be running the program again in 2024.

Brought to you by:

Increase your home comfort and reduce your energy bills.

As energy prices and the need for climate action both increase, we all need to move away from gas and toward renewable energy. Watch one of our webinars or a recording of an information session now.

What is the Electric Homes Program?

This program has been designed by Geelong Sustainability, a not-for-profit community organisation who saw that our local community were interested in lowering their energy bills, moving off gas, reducing their emissions and wanting to live more comfortably in their homes, but didn’t know where to start. So, we’ve done the hard work for you by interviewing a range of trusted local businesses with quality products, who have great customer service and special pricing on a range of products and services including:
- solar panels - battery systems - efficient heating and cooling split systems - hot water heat pumps - draught proofing - induction cooktop installation - home insulation - home energy audits - electric vehicle chargers.

The program is open to all residents across the Greater Geelong, Surf Coast, Golden Plains and Colac Otway shires, as well as Borough of Queenscliffe.

Watch one of our webinars and hear from the experts who will carry out the work and help you through the process.

What is an all-electric home?

It’s a home that replaces any devices that are powered by gas with modern efficient electric versions. But it’s not just about moving away from gas, it’s about making sure your electricity is renewable too. And the best way to do that is by installing solar panels on your roof and a battery in the garage, so you can avoid relying on power from the grid.

The Electric Homes Program is designed to help you understand the process of making your home more energy efficient and to help you make it happen!

We ran a range of seminars and webinars during the first half of the program where we unpack everything you need to know about electrifying your home, the different products and technologies available, as well as home insulation, draught proofing, and home energy audits.

Every system sold gives back to the community

In 2023 we are proud to have partnered with Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative. Every system sold contributed to the donation of solar and heat pumps to households in the community who otherwise can’t afford them, but who are most vulnerable to cost of living pressures and rising energy bills. The more systems installed as part of the program, the more we contributed to our community! Read the full story about the partnership here.
The 2024 Community Partner is yet to be announced.
